accomplished the impossible

I’m 53 years old and, until now, I had never been in trouble in my life. Unfortunately, I entered into a business relationship that failed which caused financial losses to several of my clients. I was charged with 12 felonies associated with those losses and thought that my life was ruined forever. 

When I was arrested I was brought into court and I was given a public defender that did not seem that he was really willing to fight for me. He said that I should accept the prosecutor’s offer (plead guilty to three felonies) or that “things will get much worse” for me.  I couldn’t accept that.  I knew that the public defender didn’t have any idea what had actually happened in my business.

During these negotiations, he remained patient and optimistic. He believed that it could be done and I think that he convinced that prosecutor that he was right.

I ended up with three misdemeanors which is an absolutely amazing result considering what we started out facing in the beginning.
